A Cadillac Escalade flipped over after running into the median in Bartlett, Illinois. It was just a single-car accident, but it still put many people in the hospital, as five passengers and the driver were all hurt. On top of that, an 81-year old woman passed away.
As of the last reports, one of the passengers—a 16-year-old boy—was suffering from injuries that were life-threatening.
The woman who passed away was from Bartlett, and she lived on Biltmore Drive. The emergency crews rushed her to St. Alexius Medical Center, which is located in Hoffman Estates, but the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office announced that she had died.
The large SUV was going down Lake Street, which is also known as Route 20, about forty minutes after midnight. It then ran into the median, bounced off and hit a curb, ran into a snow bank, and eventually flipped over. It came to a stop close to Naperville Road, according to the statement that was put out by the Bartlett Police Department.
The authorities originally rushed the 16-year-old to St. Alexius Medical Center, along with the elderly woman, but he was then airlifted from that center to Lutheran General Hospital, which is located over in Park Ridge, to get full treatment.
No one else in the car, including the 52-year-old driver, had injuries as serious as the two passengers referenced above, and so the emergency crews brought them to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. That center is out in Elgin.
While they looked into the cause of the crash, the police had to close down Lake Street from Route 59 to Lambert Lane.
When a loved one dies or is seriously hurt in a car accident, family members may be able to seek compensation.
