What we look for in an Illinois truck accident case

Commercial tractor-trailers are a mainstay of our modern economy. Each day they move tons of goods and products along Illinois roads. The constant presence of tractor-trailers on our highways ensures that items produced in our state get to market places throughout the country. Alternatively, Chicago serves as a crossroads for many 18-wheelers traveling cross-country through our state.

Due to the high volume of outbound and inbound freight, Chicago residents invariably experience accidents involving these large trucks. Most trucking companies and the drivers who operate them are competent, law-abiding and honest. However, there are also those involved in the commercial trucking industry who place profits before safety.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is the agency tasked with regulating commercial trucking. FMCSA rule section 390.3 says that trucking companies and their operators must adhere to a strict set of rules aimed at protecting public safety. This is important because it provides the minimum standard of care which trucking companies and their operators are required to observe.

Our law firm assists our clients injured in truck accidents by investigating whether truck drivers are in compliance with that standard of care. Negligent actions such as talking or texting on mobile devices, using drugs or alcohol, failure to maintain a safe vehicle, driving while exhausted etc. are all examples of drivers operating below federally required guidelines.

If you have been injured in a truck accident caused by a negligent driver our firm will work hard to see that you received the maximum recovery available. Our goal is to use state-of-the-art technology like computer-animated accident reconstruction combined with years of representing victims throughout Cook, Kane, Will, DuPage and Lake Counties to help you recover compensation for your injuries.
