North Chicago & St. Louis Injury Updates
A 58-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a car in Chicago when she abruptly drove through two lanes of traffic and left the road; police still don’t know what caused her to do it. Her car bounced up over the curb and then slammed into a bus shelter.
There were numerous people in the shelter, and seven of them were injured. At least five of them were in critical condition, and one person even commented that it was shocking they had survived at all. One of the injured was a pregnant woman of 19.
The latest reports show that they have all survived. Some are in the hospital, but they are no longer in critical condition, and some are back at home. The police did not say if the driver was hurt or if the passenger in the car was injured, but it’s worth noting that the airbags did go off.
Numerous people witnessed the crash and ran over to help people who got stuck between the vehicle and the back wall of the small bus stand. One person said it was disturbing because it could have been them; the people in the shelter were just a random group of individuals, waiting for the bus and standing in an area of supposed safety, when they were hit before they could get out of the way.
