Truck, Cars Collide Leading to Multiple Injuries

In many cases, chain reaction accidents are among the worst. With so many vehicles involved, the chance for injury is much greater. A recent chain reaction crash on the Tri-State Tollway near Gurnee involving six vehicles led to injuries to 16 people, including three children who are now in critical condition at local hospitals.

Reports are stating that the crash involved multiple families that were heading to the famous Six Flags Great America amusement park located in Gurnee.

Three children involved in the accident were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, and according to one doctor they were admitted in critical condition immediately following the accident. Fortunately, many of the other children involved in the accident have been released from the hospital after only receiving minor injuries. One of the children involved in the car accident stated that a big semi-truck hit the car behind the one he was in, leading to that car colliding with his.

Another child noted that she had never been involved in a car accident before. She stated that she heard the airbags come in and the back of the car that had flipped over hit the vehicle in which she was a passenger.

At this time, one child is being cared for at Advocate Condell Medical Center. The other two critically injured children who were initially taken to this hospital have since been airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for additional treatment.
